The Opportunity:
We’re looking for an experienced HR professional to join this busy HR team on a temporary basis to support business-as-usual activity during an internal secondment to a key transformation project.
This is a hands-on, generalist HR role within a busy operational environment. You’ll play a key part in supporting managers with day-to-day HR casework and ensuring consistent and fair application of policies across the organisation.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Managing and advising on a range of employee relations cases including sickness absence, disciplinaries, grievances, and performance issues
- Working closely with line managers to ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures
- Providing practical support across the full employee lifecycle
- Maintaining accurate documentation and case records
- Supporting the wider HR team with ongoing initiatives and administrative duties
- Contributing to a positive and solutions-focused HR service
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong HR generalist experience, ideally at Advisor or Officer level
- Proven experience in case management (sickness, disciplinaries, grievances)
- Sound understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Ability to work independently, manage workload and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confident user of Microsoft Office 365
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build trust and work confidentially at all times
Nice to Have:
- CIPD qualification (Level 3 or above)
- Experience in an operational or unionised environment
- Knowledge of public sector or marine-related industries advantageous
Working Arrangements:
- Hours: Full-time or part-time considered (up to 30 hours/week over 4–5 days, or 3 full days)
- Location: Hybrid working – ideally 2–3 days per week on-site in Milford Haven or operational locations
- Flexibility: Some remote work supported; however, due to the operational nature of the role, regular on-site presence is expected
- Travel: Candidates should be within 40 minute commuting distance to Milford Haven – this role would not suit those with a lengthy daily commute or the need to relocate due to the temporary nature of the position.
