Site Manager SMSTS (Solar)
Location: Pembrokeshire, Main office and on site
Hours: 40 hours per week
Type: Permanent
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 to include full expenses and company vehicle
Our client is a family run, civil engineering & facilities management company, focused on the oil, gas & renewables sectors, and specialising in site maintenance, construction projects and facility shutdown support.
Key Responsibilities:
The Site Manager will join a small but busy Civil Engineering and Solar Maintenance Team in the head office in Pembrokeshire. The primary responsibility will be;
- Assist with contract tenders for new and existing projects in the Solar sector of the business, working closely with the Solar Director and other Contract Managers, Quantity Surveyors and supplier/sub-contractor partners.
- On the successful award of each contract, the Site Manager will be accountable for the mobilisation of labour, plant and equipment to the respective sites and subsequently take lead on the site for delivery
- Support the Solar Director in the purchase and delivery of equipment and materials required in the execution of the works.
- Oversee the safe execution of the works and the timely handover and demobilisation.
- Ensure site rules inductions and H&S processes are followed
- Be the main point of contact at site for all site matters ensure team are correctly dressed PPE etc and prompt in their attendance at work
- Ensure contracts are executed safely, on time and within schedule.
- Take lead on contract scope delivery and report daily on progress to Solar director and client as requested
What we need from you/ requirements/ what you will have :
- The ideal candidate will have a background in the Civils sector , a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role and ideally have prior experience with solar farm construction is desirable but not essential.
- Must have demonstrated commitment to health and safety protocols in the construction industry.
- Candidate will have competent project management skills with experience in managing multiple simultaneous projects with a proven track record in leadership.
- This role will require excellent communication and people management skills and have the ability to effectively communicate at all levels in the client and company organisation.
- Candidate will be familiar with project planning and programming software such as MS Projects and have prior experience in preparing project quotations working collaboratively with company Quantity Surveyors.
- Given the nature of the solar business, project sites are located right across the UK and therefore the successful candidate must be prepared for extensive travel, particularly during site establishment and set up and delivery
Preferred Qualifications:
- While an engineering degree would be advantageous, it is not mandatory for this role.
